Advances to Second Round of US Open Cup!

Oyster Bay United FC took on Hartford City FC at Dillon Stadium on a cold night in Hartford, Connecticut in the first round on the US Open Cup.  The teams went back and forth with possession for the first fifteen minutes before Junior Rosero capitalized on a poor clearence by the Hartford City keeper and fired home into the left corner from about 22 yards out.  From there, OBUFC looked dominant with Rosero turning into playmaker assisting on Franco Paz' beautiful crossbar down goal to make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute.  From here the game got a bit more phyiscal with players from each side seeing yellow.  Towards the end of the second minute of added time, Rosero assisted again, cutting a ball back to Sebastian Ruiz who chipped the keeper making it 3-0 and really deflating the City faithful.

Early in the second half, Rosero almost added a second goal that was ticketed for the right side netting, prompting a very smart save from City's Carson  D'Ambrosio.  Keen on making sure not to see red and allow City a way back into the match, OBUFC took a little off the gas and sat back to preserve the big 3-0 and move onto the second round of the US Open Cup.  OBUFC will be back in Hartford in two weeks to take on USL-C side Hartford Athletic in what is sure to be a fun match!
